MED SCHOOL: Des Moines University, Des Moines, IA
INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF MEDICINE: Hiking, traveling, gardening, reading, spending time with my family
INTERESTS IN MEDICINE: Preventative medicine with an emphasis on patient education
LIFE BEFORE MEDICINE: I've basically wanted to be a physician since I was a teenager so for better or worse most of my adult life has been spent pursuing that goal. I have done a lot of traveling including a 6 month stay in Nepal when I when 13 (this is where I first realized that I wanted to be a doctor). I've lived in most of the major MT cities including Bozeman, Helena, and Missoula. In between undergrad and medical school I had the good fortune of meeting my significant other, James, in Missoula. I've spent a lot of time working in hospitals and clinics and over the years have been able to participate in some really cool volunteer opportunities including Reach to Recovery and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
FAVORITE BOOKS: Very tough to narrow down. Some of my favorite authors are James Michener, Tom Robbins, and Barbara Kingsolver.
FAVORITE MOVIES: Currently include 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' and "I Heart Huckabees"
WHY YOU CHOSE RESIDENCY IN MONTANA: A great program combined with a great location. I've lived in various parts of MT for the majority of my life and I'm so excited to be back around the mountains!!
