Welcome to our virtual tour of the Montana Family Medicine Residency program.  As Residency Director for nearly 14 years, I am proud of what we have built here in Montana.  We are the only residency program in the state, and committed to providing an education that will prepare our graduates for a wide range of practice choices – from rural and frontier locations to underserved and other practices in the ‘big cities’ of Montana.  Our residency practice is located in the RiverStone Health Clinic – a Community Health Center where faculty and residents care for a large population of patients.  The two hospitals in Billings provide outstanding systems of care when a higher level of care is needed, with a busy inpatient teaching service we operate at both locations – conveniently located a few blocks from each other. 

This commitment to the underserved has created an environment of caring and service, with the opportunity to learn to provide first rate primary care to a population lacking in traditional resources.  Our outstanding faculty and residents, working with our clinical teams, have a track record of excellence.  The leadership in the residency – both administrative, faculty and resident physicians – take this on the road where we participate in many national and international education and policy activities advocating for and providing access to healthcare and information.  What is new this year?  The residency is expanding as our patient population grows, we are establishing a new simulation teaching program and extending and further targeting our procedure training to enhance patient care.
