Ben Phipps, MD

Faculty, Associate Director of Sports Medicine Fellowship

Dr. Phipps grew up in Deer Lodge, Montana, where during high school he was living and working on the family dairy farm. He then moved to Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota where he was a part of the Rural Physician Associate Program working in Crosby Minnesota for most of his third year. Ben graduated from the University of Minnesota in Duluth with an undergraduate degree in Biology, where he was active in sports. During medical school he volunteered in Crosby as an assistant varsity coach for track and field, presented information on healthy choices to elementary and high school classes, conducted a research project, and also managed to complete 4 marathons (including Boston) and other long distance races. He has worked with medical clinics in Honduras and Kenya and volunteered with homeless clinics during medical school. Ben completed his Family Medicine Residency with the Montana Family Medicine Residency in 2008. His other interests include fly fishing, hunting and other outdoor sports, long distance running and many other sports.
